Friday July 16th
311 Concert*:   7-10 pm at Memorial Park
 
   Accord to the Omaha World Herald, 25,000 to 30,000, mostly the teenagers and younger generation, attended this Free Rap/Rock concert by this International known band from LA. “311”. The band members grew up in Omaha in the 1970’s and graduated from Westside and Bryan High Schools.  The webmaster did not attend the concert.

Saturday July 17th
Family Reunion Picnic*:  10 am - 4pm
 by the Douglas County Historical Society  

  at Metro Tech's Fort Omaha  Campus


   Although  I, the webmaster, came for the last hour of the Picnic,  There were activities for every one including:
 
• Walter P. Chrysler Auto Restorers Show
    My favorite was the 1913 Maswell horseless carriage & a tear-drop trailer
• Civil War re-enactors
• American Indian dancers or Pow-Wow
• Gospel Music- one of type performed
•"Ollie the Trolley" guide tour of Fort Omaha
• General Crook House  & Garden Walk
• Plus  many other activities and various Omaha  historical displays

Concert & Firework on the Riverfront  7 am to 10:15 pm
  at Heartland of America Park

The Heartland of America Park was packed for the concerts and fireworks. A huge "floating Stage" were set in the park logon or lake.
 
• 7-8 pm: The Matt Wallace Band*
    Great Jazz music by an Omaha native and his band.

• 8:30 - 10 pm: Omaha Symphony Concert*
   Sponsored by Peter Kiewit Sons’ Inc.
   It feature selection of music highlighting Omaha's history

• 10 pm : Riverfront Fireworks*  sponsored by ConAgra Foods
    It was Short (13 minutes) but intensive Show

Sunday July 18th
Family Festival*  - 1 to 5pm Downtown Omaha
including Gigantic birthday cake

   It have activities at various downtown Omaha Culture & Museum locations, see list below, with free "Ollie the Trolley" & MAT’s retro bus shuttle service between these locations. The webmaster only have enough time to a have piece of the Birthday cake due to other commitments.
