    Paul,

Dont know if you got my previous e-mail or not but the final piece of the
    puzzle has been found.

Per the fall 1950 issue of the amateur radio call book:

    K7AIR
    Joseph F. Thomasson Jr.
    Mars Building 1008
Moses Lake AFB, Moses Lake, WA

Moses Lake AFB was renamed Larson AFB in May 1950, and closed in 1966.
Larson AFB was named after Major Donald A. Larson, a WWII fighter ace from
Yakima, WA. Major Larson was killed in action on August 4, 1944 on a
fighter mission over Germany. He was attached to the 505th fighter squadron
and had flown 57 combat missions when his P-47 Thunderbolt was shot down
near Ulzen, Germany. Major Larson is buried in the U.S. Military Cemetary
at Neuville-en-Condroz, nine miles west of Leige Belgium.

Major Larson's decoration included: The Silver Star, Distinquished Flying
Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with 3 clusters, Purple Heart, and 2
    Bronze Stars.

The primary mission of Larson AFB was to protect the Hanford atomic works,
    and the Grand Coulee Dam.

Tac took over the base in 1952 and held control until SAC took over in 1960.
In 1961 the first of three Titan intercontinental ballistic missle
facilities were installed to compliment the B-52 strike force during the
    cold war.

I have a certified copy of the Fall 1950 page of the callbook showing K7AIR.
I have notified Saul to update his site & I hope SACMARC does as well.

I found Mr Thomasson in the 2001 callbook. He is W5HOO and is now 78 years
old. I have sent him a letter in the hopes he may be able to give us some
insight as to what the Mars radio station was like.

I also found an excellent website for both Mitchel Field and Larson AFB, the
    addresses are: http://www.portofmoseslake.com, and
http://www.hempsteadplains.com. The Mitchell site has some excellent
pictures of the old base on Long Island. It is now home to Nassau Community
    college.
The old time veterans should get a kick out of both sites.

    Enjoy

    Roger
