Student Council

Purpose:   To lead the school through example
         Develop and organize activities
         Assist students and faculty as needed.

Planned activities for 08-09:

	Student Store (Corner Shoppe) (Open Mon., Wed., Fri. AM 8:00-8:15)
	Haunted Tunnel (w/ 8^th grade)
	Multi – Cultural Day
	Wrap Christmas gifts purchased at Christmas Corner
	School Spirit Week during Catholic School’s Week
	Spring activity
	Plan Eucharistic Celebration for Catholic School’s Week
	All school picnic
	Work with teachers to promote social skills
	Other as requested by teachers

Membership

	Will consist of four 8^thgraders, two 7^th graders, two 6^th graders, & two 5^th graders
	Students will submit a 100 to 200-word essay stating why they want to be on student council and what they would like to do for the school and students.
	The current student council will score the essays in the 5^th thru 8^th grades.
	Teachers will rate leadership skills of students applying for student council.
	The students in each grade will vote for candidates chosen by averaging leadership ratings and essay scores.
	The students receiving the most votes will join the student council for the school year.
	Election will be held end of September.
