We want to teach the World to Sing!
Our Show Choir is a select
group of students from 5th, 6th 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. We perform for
many community activities and groups, as well as school productions.
Primary grades learn
rhythms, music notation, and performance through a variety of songs and
activities. We study signing, which we can use with our other music
activities. The Solfeg is an important part of our curriculum, also.
Fourth grade concentrates on
instrumental music. We make our own instruments, work with
bells,Boomwhackers, and other pitched/rhythm instruments. We have a new set
of pitched "stepping dots", which can be played on the floor with hands or
feet. They also focus on Flutophones during 2nd semester.
Upper grades study musicals, composers,
and other musical theater. Part-singing is an important part of our curriculum.
