The 8^th Grade Class of Holy Name is responsible for attending to their own academic rigors, but this class shares in responsibilities to the entire campus frequently.  Eighth grade students are asked to distribute Friday Folder material, set up for weekly assemblies and events in our auditorium, set up audio/visual equipment for a variety of events, envision and create a Haunted Tunnel, elect Student Council members, lead our choral groups and athletic teams, provide 18 hours of service, develop a personalized and unique 8^th grade yearbook, and spend countless hours assisting special teachers and the administration with tasks that couldn’t be completed without their cooperativeness.  In addition, they should have a mastery of the Discipline with Purpose skills and develop strong leadership skills that can move them into their high school education. Throughout the 8^th grade year, these students spend time preparing for standardized exams and preparing applications for the high schools they wish to attend.  Our 8^th grade class is expected to be independent and inquisitive, and most importantly, thoughtful followers of Christ.

Junior High (6/7/8) Language Arts, Literature, & English:

These students read a variety of novels and pieces of non-fiction and fiction from their anthologies.  Students must develop great communication skills, reading skills, and master five paragraph essays ranging in format.  Spelling, vocabulary, and grammar also play an important role in English studies in junior high.
