Miss McDermott Email: Miss McDermott
The fourth grade students made the long trek up the stairs to the intermediate wing. We discussed how they are now older then 5 of the grades at Holy Name. The children will have many opportunities to model the skill of leadership to the younger students and perhaps once in a while to the older students. The fourth grade children will work on the skill of completing a task in a variety of ways. The use of the student planner will really compliment this skill. The three remaining skills we will focus on are communication, cooperation, and reasons for rules.
The first 5 D.W.P. skills will continue to be practiced throughout the year. The goal is that listening, following instructions, sharing, asking questions and social skills are mastered by the end of third grade.
The fourth grade children will have science class with Mrs. Bishop, while the 5th grade students have Social Studies with Miss McDermott. They will continue to have writing with Mrs. Owens, P.E. with Mr. Kroupa, Music with Mrs. Torneten, Library with Mrs. Wieger, and Technology and World Language with Mrs. Smolinski. The fourth and fifth grade children will also have the opportunity to receive lessons from Mrs. Keller our student teacher from College of St. Mary’s.
Fourth grade students are given challenges to reach their potential in a variety of ways. They are encouraged to always do their best and to represent their school, family, and themselves in the highest level possible. |
