The art program at Holy Name follow the Essential Learnings for Art
as outlined by the Nebraska Department of Education (see below.) We
believe art education should be integrated into the classroom learning
experience. Every class weaves art appreciation into their daily
curriculum. We strive to encourage every child to discover their
full potential in all artistic areas.

Nebraska Visual and Performing Arts Essential Learnings integrate
approaches to the arts and thinking processes that are seldom
found in isolation. The indicators or demonstrations are selected from
performance objectives found within the Nebraska K-12 Visual and
Performing Arts Curriculum Frameworks document. These objectives
illustrate a few of the many ways to meet each Essential Learning.
Stacey is teaching
Kindergarten through 8th grade students. She is integrating
many different art styles and mediums. With the older students, the focus
is on art history and individual instruction on many different artists.
She hopes to take the students on field trips to Josyln Art Museum. The
Holy Name students are lucky to have such an enthusiastic, talented and
knowledgeable instructor.
About Ms. Wonder:
Stacey attended St. Philip Neri grade
school and is a graduate of Roncalli High School. She is working on a
bachelors degree in Studio Art at the University of Nebraska.
Stacey is very active in
the Ballet Omaha WonderWheels. This organization teaches techniques for
wheelchair dancing. This new form of dancing showcases the whimsical
movements of a dancer in a wheelchair. She became involved with this
group in 1995 following an automobile accident that left her paralyzed
from the waist down. In addition to performing with WonderWheels, she is
active with teacher training, lecture demonstrations, summer camps and,
now, teaching the students of Holy Name School!
