2002 Special Board Election Campaign worst possibly ever.
When Doris Barry and Helen Warren both resigned from the USCF Board in the early part of 2002, the USCF bylaws mandated a special election. Five candidates collected petitions and signed up including Arnold Denker, Dr. Joe Wagner, Sam Sloan, Enrique Rios, and Larry Cohen.
With a solid 5 vote majority already however, there was almost no campaigning by the candidates. Denker got the most votes and never sent out a campaign letter. Enrique Rios of Texas never even sent a statement to Chess Life or campaigned at all, at least not nationally.
